Based on last year's state placewinners it looks like Class L will not even be close.
Xavier looks ubeatable in Class L. They have eight returning placewinners from last year: 106-4th; 113th-6th; 120-4th; 126-6th; 132-3rd; 138-5th; 182-2nd and 285-4th. The only team that looks like they could challenge Xavier's anticpated dominance is New Canaan with five returning placewinners, two of whom may be the best two wrestlers in the state: 126-2nd; 138-1st; 145-2nd; 152-3rd; 285-2nd. Who else from Class L will be competing for a top three finishenext year?
New Milford graduated 12 out of 14 weights (106 and 152 returning, neither placed at Class L). I agree they generally reload rather than rebuild, but I'm excited to see what they can do next year with so little post-season experience returning. Can they still pull out a top 5 finish?
I agree Xavier will be top dog. They are young and stacked. They were at the very very top of class L in enrollment so no guarantee they will be L again. Bristol Eastern is loaded. They are 3-4 deep at most weight classes. They will be top 2 or 3 for sure. New Milford same thing, they are always good, and will be top 4 for sure. Wethersfield is headed in the right direction too. They will be solid next year. Hand, and Wilton lost a lot so not sure they will contend.
