I just watched the school I went to win the New York large school title yesterday. There were 12 teams. The winners of each sectional tournament and then some at large teams. There were 4 pools and the winner of each pool advanced to the semifinal. Winners obviously to the final. I also like the conference idea with a conference dual tournament and 4 wild cards. With 12 teams, it's a one day tourney. Conference tourneys could be done during the week. Prelims on tuesday and semis and finals on a thursday.
I’ve thought about this as well! Another form could be the winners of the conference tournaments. There are 8 (if you group the independents together) so therefore it would work well in a bracket And could realistically be done within 1 day. However I do like the idea of the top 4 in the Class as it adds more teams for a more exciting event
