My logic was, they would seed according to the places in the class meet (eg. winners of each class would be seeded 1-4, 2nd place finishers 5-8, etc). I looked at the seed points to rank within each seed group. If your wrestler finished 4th in his class tournament, he will be seeded anywhere from 13-16, for example. Head-to-Head may also come into play if wrestlers are right next to each other based on seed points.
Again, not official, as I don't have anything to do with the seeding - just a fan.
120 has been quite an interesting weight class this yr. Some of these guys have swapped wins. I know Dragon beat one of the top 10 on there. Overall it should be an exciting state tourney across the board! Good luck to all!
Hey all, new to this forum. I'm surprised to see that ND-WH wrestler Chris Manganiello (SR; 126 lbs) isn't even ranked? I believe he's unbeaten since starting with the team after the New Year. He's a transfer from North Branford, where he place 3rd in Class S last year. He pinned both Fairfield Warde's Owen Sheiman (JR; 126) (ranked #7) and Trumbull's Ibrahim Kadri (JR; 126) (ranked #11) (you have him listed under Fairfield Ludlowe?) last night (Friday 2/2) and has also already beaten NFA's Jackson Sorel (ranked #20) handily on points at the Snitkin Duals (Saturday 1/20). He may have also faced/beaten Bristol Central's Alex Lamarre (FR; 126) (ranked #9) and/or Ellis Tech's Edwin Lovely (JR;126) (ranked #10) at the Snitkin Duals as well, but I can't find the results from that match anywhere and not sure if they both met when those teams competed that day (NDWH beat both Bristol Central and Ellis Tech at the Snitkin Duals). ND's Manganiello also placed 2nd in 126 at the East Coast Catholic Classic 1/5-1/6/24 in Richmond, VA, cruising through the brackets before losing by only 2 points in the championship match, which I believe is his only loss of his short season (1/1/24-Present). NDWH's Manganiello will likely face Cheshire's Harley Guida (SO; 126) (ranked #23) this coming Wed 2/7 at Cheshire too.
TJ Serrano from Notre Dame Fairfield has split with Brian Gonzalez of Bunnel winning the second match by pin 1/13 and recently beaten Ryan Gruetzner NF 1/31. 13-2 this year winning every match by fall. Second loss was a dec to Guzman.
It must be hard to truly rank a wrestler these days with so many of them flip flopping weight classes. It's like a wrestler's transfer portal every week.
Delmazio Despard 132lbs of Windham won by tek fall over Waterford on 1/24/24 an went 4-0 at the Foran Duels 1/27/24 with pins against New London, Branford, New Fairfield and a major decision over Foran.
couple of notes...easiest way to avoid duplication (ie Delmazio ranked at 120 and 132) is to work from a single spreadsheet with all names, schools and weights...so if a wrestler changes wt class, they are not still elsewhere. the ND-WH kid at 126 has beaten some ranked kids and was 1 round from placing at the Open last year when with NBran. thanks again and hoping feeling better.
Just a few things I have noticed recently...the 126 from ND-WH (Manganiello) is tough. Placed 3rd at S last yr for NBran and is def top 10. Tat from Led has been at 106 recently, and will need to be considered higher. As others have mentioned, RS of X has been at 113. Chapman of Mont is listed at 144 and 157, but have not seen him below 157 since Dec (while Vanegas of NFA is shown at 150, but usually goes 144). thanks again for the work.
Not sure the formula for rankings, but at 285 Killingly's Anthony Oates has has beaten Kellog and Frasco in February 23'. They haven't met this year though surely consideration should be given from the last time they met.
Sam Goncalves # 12 @144 moved down to 138. He is currently undeated and has not allowed any offensive points. He just beat '23 Mass state champ William Burke.
Sybella Landrie at 106 has H2H wins over Joseph Fleming NM and Sebastian Carlo avon who you have ranked higher then her and joseph fleming H2H wins over sawyer miller and sawyer miller H2H wins over sybella Landrie
120 Weight Class - projections for State Open seeding based on Class Results and Seeding Points
Thank you for your efforts. Recognize its unofficial, but interesting all the same.
120 weight class
Question on the high ranking for M. Ortiz - he has 2 wins against 120 wrestlers and only 7 wins overall?
This next point is tougher, knowing that lots of wrestlers have good wins and bad losses:
Smith lost to Pote, but
Smith beat Andino who beat Dragon who beat Photopoulos who beat Porter who beat Cardona, and
Smith beat Andino who beat White who beat Cathell who beat Consolini who beat Sanchez
Fully acknowledge that Andino, White and Dragon have losses to others on this list
120 - Landon Roy (RHAM) has wins over Kaiden Dragon, Owen White & Pierre-Paul.
Gavin Plourde-RHAM 138, beat Amani Samuel-Killingly, Antonios Aspras-Foran, Jacob Gordon-South Windor as previously posted... pinned Griffin Devivo-Simsbury today.

With so many wrestlers flip flopping weight classes, how accurate are these rankings?
Sybella Landrie Berlin Beat Miles Yorio Rham
Few notes for RHAM
Miles Yorio beat Ryan McVeigh-New Farifield
Gavin Plourde beat Amani Samuel-Killingly, Antonios Aspras-Foran, Jacob Gordon-South Windor
Thiago Delacruz beat Senia Johnson-Windsor

Zachary Rebello dec Lucas Benoit on january 17th and Zachary Rebello MD Jonathon Macfeat on january 24th
Does anyone have an idea if the rankings will be updated soon? Thanks!
