Why is Connecticut HS Wrestling so bad?

So close to great wrestling States NY, NJ and PA but Connecticut is just so weak on the team level. I understand there have been a couple of pretty good individuals but they are very rare. The #1 team in Connecticut will struggle to be in the top 50 at Beast of East.

You my friend are a moron! Ct has produced many All American results in many tournaments off season and on season. Ct has many nationally ranked wrestlers! Jakob Camacho,Ryan Jack,AJ Kovacks, that’s just to name a few. You are blind! Paul Calo is at a #1division 3 school and is ranked #7 in the country. Keep talking trash because you are trash and your kid probably is also!!!!!'!

Not to mention, NY, NJ, and PA all have more than double CT's population, so of course the're going to have more All-Americans etc...

I never mentioned All-Americans I was just talking about why Connecticut TEAMS are so weak...Connecticuts #1 team might not finish in the top 60 at the Beast of East. Delaware probably has half the number of teams and they have 4 TEAMS in the top 45..Bingo!

It's based on the population, that was the bingo for your troll:

    New Jersey 8.9 million people

    New York 19.5 million people

    Pennsylvania 12.8 million people

    Connecticut 3.6 million people

What a f*cking waste of my time. Beyond that fact, there are two of the pre-eminent wrestling programs, in Blair and Wyoming Seminary, that draw from every state in the country that further skew the numbers, but whatever. Not familiar with any schools that fit that criteria in Connecticut.

Delaware has 900,000 population but have #13, #30, #44 and #45 TEAMS at The Beast of East..Connecticuts #1 TEAM is currently 60th??

    Okay...I'll play one last time.

    NHSCA High School Nationals

    Freshman....CT 13th, DE 16th

    Sophomores.CT 16th, DE 35th

    Juniors......... CT 10th, DE 30th

    Seniors.........CT 12th, DE 37th

You can go find arbitrary stats to show whatever you want. Connecticut is currently the 29th largest state in the country with a declining population. They seem to compete well, and I'm sure that's in part due to their proximity to NY, NJ, and PA. In New England where CT is the only state that is close to the big three, they seem to compete quite well.

I guess you want to know why we don't have dominant high school program? I guess it's because the club system is what's developing talent? Thanks for playing.

Not mad....it's kind of entertaining to engage a little ;) More about documenting a counterpoint, I'm well aware of how he's trying to play the game.

You just don't get it...I was just asking why tour TEAMS are not very good on the HS level..The NHSCA is a watered down Tournament that is filled with kids who could afford going these days. I'm talking HS wrestling TEAMS during the season.. Connecticut is just awful compared to other States in the Mid-Atlantic Region. How can your #1 TEAM be so weak?

Because they've had one week of wrestling season prior to the tournament. Football just ended. Beast of the East is the very first tournament of the season in CT. For my school, it would have been the first wrestling for anyone (no tourneys or matches at all prior to BotE). That's pretty tough competition to start with.

Maybe one day..someone there will accept the FACT that your TEAMS are not very good and will start changing that and one day be able to compete with some good TEAMS on The East coast..As of now its pathetic!

CT starts wrestling late compared to other states. Beast of the East comes early in the HS season. The performance of CT wrestlers at the end of the season is probably a better indicator of program quality. Many teams in CT can't fill every weight class. CT has some quality wrestlers and programs, but wrestling has not been as popular in CT high schools as elsewhere.
