Make sure for your initial rankings to move Fairfield Ludlowe wrestlers (Nicholas @ 126 and Pressler @ 113) to the LLs, and to move any of the Amity wrestlers into the L rankings (e.g., Flaherty @ 182).

I am not sure why D'Sean Martin from Simsbury is No 2 in Class L and not the No. 1.
He wrestled Eric Facey from BC at Opens and pinned him. At Class L they did not wrestle but had a common opponent: Mackenzie from New London. Mackenzie beat Martin in a 3-1 decision in the consi semis and then pinned Facey in the 3rd place match in 1:22.

Class L rankings are updated (sorry for the delay, been a busy holiday season). I think i have captured most of the results, but I'm sure i have missed something, so please loyal Class L fans, tell me what I've messed up. Be brutal :)
Just a note, I dropped Tyler Sung off as he has not wrestled yet this year and I understand that he has had offseason surgery and may not wrestle this year. He clearly would be at #1 at any weight he goes, but until I get some results, I left him off the rankings.

Dropping Tyler Sung from Class rankings is fair if he is inactive, but he should stay in P4P.
Well, I'm biased being a New Canaan fan, but I don't see how you drop Ben Clay from 4 to 6 in 285 for going 11-1 with the only loss being a 3OT gasser and all victories by fall, but whatever. Looking at the kids above him, none have done as well, though I give Martin a pass for the level of competition he's faced. There's a lot of wrestling left to do and I'm sure a lot of questions will be answered on the mat.

I don't think anyone is going to be "brutal," you've got a tough job especially considering the sorry state of results reporting. Weight classes are still moving around a bit and some kids with more losses have had them facing much tougher competition. We (other site users) need to help out more with sifting through the results and pointing out the key matches--otherwise you're trying to clean the Augean Stables in a day. It's still too early to have real confidence in the Class rankings, but they do show us who to keep an eye on.

Rapuano wrestled 113 at eastern states so he is certified to do it . Just because he’s wrestling 120 I wouldn’t rank him there. Why would he certify there if he doesn’t intend to wrestle opens and New England’s there?

I’m not wrong! They can’t wrestle at a national event at a weight they did not certify for. Just because it’s out of state doesn’t mean you can break rules and cut a ton of weight that you weren’t certified to cut to. If you did not certify 108 you can’t wrestle 106 anywhere . If you didn’t certify 115 you can’t wrestle 113 anywhere. #facts

Lot of passion of the forums today. Love it.
I am going through results and will update rankings tomorrow. Kids weights are still moving around, so please be patient as I do my best to get kids in their right weight. It is quite possibly the most frustrating part of the ranking process. Any insights are welcome, especially if you know the kids/coaches and know where they are planning on wrestling at states. Simsbury is one of the most frustrating teams as they were moving kids weights around right up to the end of the year. They have a lot of talented wrestlers and I understand coaches do it to help the team/kids, but it does make rankings harder. All insights are appreciated.

Class L 285
Facey from Bristol Central (285) has no results this year. If he isn't wrestling, he should be dropped (as was done with Sung and others). If anyone has results for him, kindly clue us in.
St. Peter beat D'Sean Martin (3OT) at John Gorman Invitational in RI last Sat. It's amazing how many matches St. Peter takes to overtime, but it seems to work for him.
Highley--No results. there was a dual w/ New London, but nothing online that I could find.
Coscia lost to Rescanski (Foran Class M #3) 1/2 No other results as Amity doesn't seem to report.
Clay went 4-0 at Long Island West Islip Duals (Islip, West Islip, West Babylon, and South Side), 1/11 took 2nd at Greater Hartford Open at Hall HS--lost to Thomas Perry of Haddam Killingworth in the final. Clay was sidelined with the flu and did not compete at Class L last year (sent JV kid instead) so he isn't on the board.
Note for Open Rankers:
Thomas Perry this season has victories over D'Sean Martin (2L), Minsook Lee (1 M, 1 Open), LeDuc (6th S), Ralsky (5M), Clay (6L))--seems Perry should be ranked in Open having beat the Open #1 as well as 2 of the top 5 RI HWTs (Sanford, Coventry & Giles, Chariho).

I also agree with an ealier post. D'Sean Martin pinned Facey at the Opens. Why is he behind him in the Class ranks? They never met at the Class L, so why does the place result (which is a function of brackets/seeds only in this case) carry so much weight?

I have updated the heavies. Facey went 3-1 at the East Haven Duals. he has a number of results this year. I feel comfortable ranking him. Highley went 1-1 at the Killingly Duals and I think 2-2 at the Staples duals last weekend. Lost to Rizy by Pin, no shame there. East Lyme has done all dual meets this year, so it is a bit harder to find their results on Flo, but they all seem to be there. Watching Clay closely, he has some really good results this year, but needs to beat the guys above him to move up. I think he may be able to do it, but I can't move him up on a feeling. Need results. I'm sure they'll come.

Jan 15, 2020
@sanctuss7 "Beat the guys above him?" That's just B.S. Clay was 4 in pre-season, you put 2 guys above him that didn't beat him (how did that work?). Clay would have been 5 or 6 seed in Class L CIAC but was scratched due to sickness and New Canaan sent the JV guy in his place. Rankings aren't that important, but don't pretend that 4 & 5 are above him based on results--neither have wrestled him--and you dropped Clay below them w/o needing to see them "beat the guy above them." Coscia was pinned in the first round LL by a guy Clay pinned in 20 seconds.
