    Rankings update

    in Ranking Changes | Updates

I’m pretty new to this site, and was looking between the Class ranking. Are these updates on a certain basis. Weekly or biweekly, I noticed also some seem more updated than others. Single L seems like it’s really outdated.

Just curious. During seeding for conference and states do they just look at overall wins? Or do they dig deeper to see if win was from pin, decision or Forfeit of some kind?

For states, it’s all based on a point system based on win percentage, number of wins, past year’s class, open, NE placement, etc. see http://content.ciacsports.com/tp/wrest1920.pdf. Starts on page 7

Class L is updated by @sanctuss7 and he is doing a pretty good job. One of the issues this year is the difficulty of getting the results. A bunch of schools seem to have made a conscious decision not to post results if they have a say (e.g. a home dual). Dual results can be seen on Flo (if posted), but you have to go school-by-school and the process can take a long time. I have had to reduce the number of schools and weight classes I follow because it is such a "clunky" process. This situation is bad for CT wrestling and needs to change, but the people at the top don't seem to care (or are impotent). If they implemented a policy of "If the result doesn't appear in Flo, it's a loss" for Class tournament seeding, the coaches would probably do a better job, but for now they are either lazy or just gaming the system (fly under the radar, then show up to a seeding meeting with an outstanding, unverifiable record).

Amen to that! I like the loss idea , but how about if the record is unverifiable then he gets seeded last? Or gets seeded on what is verifiable? Mass has a good system on their forum. The Burlington head coach personally posts all the results in a results section on the forum , makes it really easy. Their forum in general is much more organized than ours.

I noticed there wasn’t any key wins or losses in L. So I thought it was from a while ago

Like @sweep the leg said welcome! i would say each division is updated at least once a week, there are 4 individals who have been generous enough to help out this year. In previous years I would update the site daily. However, I was in college and had some free time. I am now working fulltime, running a business, and in grad school and can’t update as much as I used to. I know the L’s is usually updated once a week (little updates here and there). Hope you enjoy the site :)

Welcome to the forum, glad to have new blood in here. In the past years rankings were updated very regularly. This year has been a little slower than previous years. There are multiple people who do the updates, one for each class and one for opens as far as I know. It was my impression that class L was one of the more regularly updated class. What ranking are you referring to as being overlooked?

and for the record, I think the site is great. I don’t want to come off like I’m complaining. Just honestly curious about the frequency of updates
