Finally some data to look at in retrospect. I tallied up all the top 6 finishes by both conference and class at the Opens this year. Here's what I found:
First Second Third Fourth Fifth Sixth
LL 6 7 4 5 8 3
L 4 3 2 4 2 4
M 3 2 1 4 2 4
S 0 2 7 1 3 1
By conference:
FCIAC (14 schools) 22 place winners/20 NE Qualifiers
CCC (26 schools) 29 place winners/15 NE Qualifiers
SWC (12 schools) 12 place winners/9 NE Qualifiers
SCC (13 schools) 12 place winners/11 NE Qualifiers
ECC (13 schools) 9 place winners/8 NE qualifiers
Berkshire/NCCC/Unattached 10 place winners/7 NE Qualifiers
(Apologies for any incorrect numbers, it was hand tallied and I wasn't doing it twice)
Awesome information. Ultimately, this data illustrates the dominance of Danbury and Warde, who are sending 15 combined to NE and 16 total placers (Danbury sends 8, Warde sends 7 to NE).
How so? Top 3 were in order and they had 4 of the top 6. Richardson should have been at least an HM going in, but the others beat each other all year.
The rankings for opens at 145 were pretty crappy seeing how they turned out
That’s just AWESOME! With all those accolades under his belt , he’s still a humble , grounded young man! (Traits he definitely received from his mother hahaha)
Think I read he is one of 13 to win 4 LL, and one of 3 to win 4 Open.
Looking at those numbers , I think Ryan Jack deserves a big round of applause 👏 for achieving 4 FCIAC & 4 LL gold medals 🏅. Great job kid , that’s a awesome achievement. You put yourself on a short list of some great wrestlers! I look forward to watching his career in the coming years at NC State.
