The day after the Class S held in Killingly, the Norwich Bulletin, which I believe still has a state wrestling poll, had nothing in the paper despite Killingly dominating and other ECC teams finishing near the top. Nothing.

They next couple weeks will help tell the story but FOTY - Ware from Killingly is 40-1 at 106. Maddox from Fitch has looked fantastic and Gilchrist from Norwalk has had a fantastic season at 182. As everyone knows, excelling at a higher weight is more impressive for a freshman then excelling at a lower weight.

In the ECC (mostly S schools) there were 9 1 vs 2 matches and 5 1 vs 3 matches in the finals. Only 3 "upsets" if a 2 or 3 over a 1 are upsets. Depends on the individuals I guess. At 145, Richardson (Killingly) over Maddox (Fitch). Mackenzie at 195 and Williams at 220 from New London also won as lower seeds. I would call Williams over Ryan from East Lyme/Norwich Tech an upset. Killingly in a year or will be a threat to win the open.

The Day has an article about Jaden McKenzie being back for New London. That will change some things in the ECC and L - I think they're an L anyway.

I just watched the school I went to win the New York large school title yesterday. There were 12 teams. The winners of each sectional tournament and then some at large teams. There were 4 pools and the winner of each pool advanced to the semifinal. Winners obviously to the final. I also like the conference idea with a conference dual tournament and 4 wild cards. With 12 teams, it's a one day tourney. Conference tourneys could be done during the week. Prelims on tuesday and semis and finals on a thursday.

Caleb Phillips Ledyard over Killingly's Morrisette. He'll be on the class S podium. Probably at 120. Richardson (K) over Doran (L). Doran probably goes 113 post season.

Killingly over Ledyard 35-34 after the criteria point was awarded. (Tie) Some great matches and some frustrating moments for Ledyard fans. Lots of weight class jockeying.

Class S is definitely Killingly's to lose. ...however, they had 4 kids out last weekend for varuius reasons. We will see how that shakes out. I'm moving Ledyard up to third and Montville and Gilbert down. Killingly and HK have the most potential for kids to match their ranking.

@mophie 7 126 lb freshmen at this years open. 2 heavyweights. Clearly your comment that 126 lb freshmen are just odd to see at opens is not correct. @scott - these guys wouldn't agree even if the kid was a national champ. They just don't respect the heavies which is their prerogative.
